POST-30: “I’m Just Like You “ 🫂
Looonnng timeeee cominggg! lol. Wassup world? How’s it going? 😊Been a while since I’ve posted one of these. Life has been lifeing without a doubt, and the world is a very different place to be in 😢. I have no specific rhyme or reason to post this blog except to lament a bit and fill you in on gaps of absence that I feel obliged to do, now that I have the time.
My goals get delayed, just like you. My dreams get deferred, just like you. My mind, body, and spirit get rattled by the politics we all must suffer under, and still I put one shoe on before the other, just.like.you! 🤦🏾♂️ One thing about being a public figure/building a brand/starting a business is that you don’t have an off button to be private (technically speaking). And yet there’s always room for self evaluation and the ability to say “No. Not right now… lemme get some things straight/take a reset”.
It’s grey area, Especially if you want to build momentum/continuity. I’m certainly going to choose my life and wellbeing over something external, but I also aim to please, if that makes sense. There truly are so many variables to consider on the road to success, and let’s be clear: success is a comprehensive term, not only equal to financial wealth. I want to be successful in all areas of life.
Health, wealth, finances, education, family, relationships, businesses, legacy, spirituality, etc. And with all of these balls to juggle in the air it can get really tiring. That’s why most successful ppl will tell you that there’s no such thing as “work life balance”/balance in general.
Attention can only truly be directed into one thing at a time. And u will find success in whatever that thing is. Meanwhile, all the other areas of your life mentioned will suffer… or at the least be sacrificed to what is receiving your full attention. It’s just the way things are.
Instinctively we know this but we still try our best to keep all the balls in the air. To be all the things to everyone. And it’s really impossible! A battle I’ve faced, and I think every ambitious individual struggles with is the idea of saying you’re enough, coupled with desiring more out of life/yourself. The way society is setup is it pushes us to see that we are never enough/never have enough, and that’s a terrible way to view things.
One could never achieve satisfaction out of life with that type of mindset. But in many ways it’s like a button we can’t turn off. The best approach? Probably do some self work coupled with therapy and spiritual growth. Identify the false beliefs we carry that tell us we must have more, or aren’t doing /being enough. I think we start there because there’s nothing wrong with the pursuit of happiness but we must seek internal balance in order to value where we’re headed.
As of today I’m 40years old, single, no kids, and not fully where I want to be in life. Although, working towards notable goals, I’m just not there yet-much like you. What helps me is understanding that we ARE a lot alike, whether we talk to one another or not. We all face demons, internal and external. We’re all put in precarious situations that we didn’t ask for and are simply trying to make the best out of the hand we were dealt.
From what I’m told, “success “ takes much longer than we would think. So I try to give myself grace knowing that truth. I hope u do too. I want to start a family. I want to succeed in corporate life. I want to build businesses that make an impact and leave lasting legacy. I want it all! Who doesn’t want the American dream? Truth is, that dream was only afforded to a few and the rest of us are left scrambling to make something out of nothing and it’s not getting any easier.
Systems, organizations, and government bodies are fighting hard to make life difficult for the average American, and that happens both intentionally and unintentionally through carelessness.
Until they get it together up top, we the people have to do everything we can to remain vigilant, persevere and grow. Get better Individually and stick together collectively to build community.
The cards truly are stacked against us, and my whole goal is to encourage and inspire others like me who came from humble beginnings to not give up on their growth…personally and in life. I would love to build a community/tribe of believers who still care about what’s right, and value standing for something when the whole world wants you to forget and submit. (So stick around 😉)
I’m just like you my friend, and remember: when times get too difficult for you, know that I’m somewhere around this world praying for you, and hoping that you succeed. I want good ppl to win and change the world for the better so future generations will have hope and aspire to great things as well. I hope you do the same for me, and support in any way that you can—(prayer being #1 of course).
My intentions are to still produce my books/writings, speak, build, and create institutions that deliver progress and hope. All the while, pursue those other goals I’ve mentioned, so it won’t be easy.
May tired moments find you a delightful treat, and may you always believe that the best is yet to come. We’ll ttys.
